After waiting somewhat patiently for 9 long months, Troy finally arrived at Disneyland! Anyone who knows him or has talked to him in the last 9 months knows that this is all that has been on his mind! We had an amazing trip to California and have many, many memories! Disneyland was so magical---even Kevin and I felt like kids again! There were times I felt like I was dreaming, like at the nightly Parade of Dreams. We were so lucky to go and have such perfect weather! And we beat the freeway closing from fires by hours! Thank goodness!

Fun at the Messicks!
The first night we got to California, we stayed in Laguna Niguel with one of my best friends from college, Aubrey Messick, and her family. (Yes, she is the one to blame for my accident breaking my back. Why didn't you stop me! JK!) We had a blast with her awesome family and even got to relax by their amazing pool! Someday I will have a backyard oasis in Southern California like the Messicks....oh yeah Erin, wake up! You are dreaming! Thank you Messicks for treating us like part of the family!

Beach Bums

One of my friends just sent this picture she took of the boys sometime this summer at the pool...I had to share cause it was so cute! Two of my good friends here had little boys within 10 days after Colt was born. They are all going to be buddies for life, they have no choice! From left to right it is Colt, Tommy, & Nathan. Aren't they adorable! Colt looks like the sumo baby! I have the best friends in the world down here!!!
Bath Time!
So you would think that taking a picture of two little boys in the bathtub would be easy, right? WRONG! I had to take 10 pictures to finally get 1 shot of both of the boys looking at the camera! I don't know what it is, but they will never both be looking at the camera at the same time! They must know how much it irritates me to keep taking them,
always getting someone looking away! Oh well, gotta love 'em!
Troy the Builder
Troy got these blocks from Cookie and Papa for his 2nd birthday and no other toy as gotten as much use as these! Troy LOVES to build towers and castles with his blocks on the kitchen floor. But the number one rule is that there is no block playing when Colt is sleeping since it wakes him up when they fall over! He built this castle today and wanted me to take a picture of it and send it to Cookie and Papa. I love how he puts his toys and animals on them and makes "garages" and "pet crates". He is so creative!

Madsen Health Update-Some good but mostly bad!
Well I will just post all of this here instead of sending an email our! Here is our health rundown for anyone who cares!!! Oh and by the way, this is the WAY shortened version!
Kevin-Kev is getting his gallbladder out tomorrow, Thursday the 4th. He has had some bad gallstone attacks that have put him in the ER so this is the best way to fix it. Hopefully it will be a smooth recovery since we had to Disneyland in a little over a week!
Erin-Most of you know about the accident I had in college 6 years ago involving a longboard, a car, and Aubrey Messick :) Well, I broke my back and they never did surgery since I was so young. Recently I went back to the Dr. since my pain has been really bad and they found from a MRI that my spine has slipped out of my pelvis. I know it sounds really bad, good thing I take some good pain pills everyday! So I meet with the surgeon in December and most likely I will have to have a very serious surgery after the first of the year. (2 months in bed with 6 months of not holding my boys! Is that really possible) Plus lots of Physical Therepy. I am preparing for dealing with this and if it turns out there is another alternative, I will be very happy to say the least!
Colt-Well I get the awful mother of the year award! 3 days ago, Colt was sitting on his Bumbo seat on the kitchen counter (as he does everyday) and I ran to help Troy go potty. Sadly, he fell off the kitchen counter reaching for my cell phone. We watched for signs of any problems and he has been fine. So scary but I am glad he is OK. I learned my lesson with the Bumbo seat! Oh, and as I mentioned before, he got his first tooth on Tuesday-Kev thinks the fall off of the counter pushed his tooth out! :)
Troy-Well for once, Troy is 100% healthy! Thank goodness one of us is! Too bad he isn't older so he could take care of his poor family that is falling apart!

It's Potty Time at the Madsens!
This is BIG news for us at our house! I had been working with Troy here and there on potty training in the last few months but decided to wait until after our big DisneyLand trip in 2 weeks to really get serious about it. Well last week, Troy told me that you don't wear diapers to DisneyLand, you were "underwears". I couldn't exactly tell him no so we've been working on it for 6 days and I think he's got it down! He's been so good that it has actually been pretty easy. Hopefully it sticks! The last picture is the view he has from his potty seat. He gets 2 Whoppers after he goes potty and the Dinosauar car is for when he has a whole day with no accidents. He actually earned it today!
Sneak Peak!
Cute Boy!
I love these pictures of Colt, probably because it shows how he is starting to grow into that head of his! I can't believe is 8 months old! Time sure does fly! He got his first tooth yesterday which probably explains the sour attitude he has been giving me lately! He better start being nicer to Mommy!

While Troy is away...Baby Colt plays!
I am LOVING my 2 hours of peace and quiet twice a week while Troy is at preschool! While he is gone, Colt takes a nap for most of the time and when he wakes up, he sits on the floor and watches his Baby Einstein video. (Best invention ever in my house!) This provides me with 2 straight hours of getting my stuff done! Isn't he so cute!
Dress Up is for Boys too :)
Argh, Matey! I'm on the look our for my Uncle C.J....Have you seen him?
Well, ever since Troy's birthday where he received his first contents of a dress up box, he has been very interested in adding to it. We were at Walmart and found these in the Halloween section...he loves his new cowboy and pirate things. Right now, he has a huge gash on his forhead that will probably scar. Abby accidently poked him with his pirate sword---they sure make those things sharp for pretend!

Troy & Abby Update! Funny story!
Abby's mom (my next door neighbor, Mandie) just told me this story this morning and I had to share! Yesterday, Troy and Abby were playing at her house and Abby's older sister had a friend over and they were playing "Truth or Dare" (Do you remember when you were 9?!) The two older girls dared Troy and Abby to kiss and if they did, then they could have a piece of gum. Anyone who knows Troy knows that this is the perfect bribe to do anything! (Huh, Cookie!) So Mandie walks in right after they kissed and freaked out and had a big talk with all of them about how kisses are special and to only kiss your mom and dad and grandparents. After everything, she left the room and Troy followed her out and said, "Miss Mandie, can I have my gum now?"
Christmas jammies....a little early!
So....I bought these PJ's on sale after Christmas last year thinking I could save them for Santa to bring this coming Christmas. I was going through the boys closets a few days ago rotating clothes and I came across these. I quickly realized that Colt will have outgrown the jammies by December so I better just get them out now! He is so big, I have a hard time remembering Troy being this chunky even though my dr. notes show he was the same size! I love the second pictures because most ALL of my pictures are like this...Troy trying to get Colt to smile at the last second instead of looking at the camera! OR Colt turning from the camera and looking at Troy at the last second because Troy yells "CHEESE" at the top of his lungs and Colt is distracted! Either way, they are angels in my eyes and I am so thankful to be their mommy!

Troy Goes to Preschool!
Big Boys Love Hats!
These pictures just crack me up! Colt just went to the doctor and weighed 19 lbs at 6 1/2 months! He is a monster! And his head is 2 cm. smaller than Troy's! These pictures totally show it! Troy got these dress up hats from my mom for his birthday and they fit Colt! Colt is sitting up on his own now which is really fun. I can't believe how big my boys are getting!!!
